Virginia Martin, PhD

Dr. Virginia (Ginny) Martin is the Interim Director for IPO. Virginia’s primary partnership focus is on the UW Partnership with Nazarbayev University (NU), which she has been involved with since February 2011. Before working at UW–Madison, she was an Associate Professor of History at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, where she taught for 10 years. Virginia’s responsibilities include: managing the daily operations of the partnership; maintaining communication within and between Partnership teams at UW and with NU; and managing the process of developing and delivering all partnership-related service outputs. Virginia has a Ph.D. in History (1996) from the University of Southern California and is an active researcher with specialization in the 19th century political and socio-cultural history of the Kazakh steppe.
