Prior to joining IPO, J. Pasha Prem worked in UW’s Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP) for nearly seven years. They began their journey at RSP working as an intern, first in processing subaward invoices, then in helping manage grants funded by the National Institute of Health and Department of Health and Human Services. For the last four years, however, Pasha worked as an accountant who managed grants and awards funded by various Non-Federal patrons of the university, most notably the William F. Vilas Estate. Outside their life at RSP, Pasha worked as a Policy and Constituent Relations Coordinator for a Wisconsin State Senator and was (and still is) an active member of UW’s History Department, serving as a student representative on the department’s undergraduate council and as editor then editor-in-chief of the department’s undergraduate history journal, ARCHIVE. They currently sit on the History Department’s Board of Visitors. Pasha graduated with a B.B.A. in 2019, majoring in Accounting and History. As a student of history, they spend much of their time outside of work reading and thinking about the past with the hope of making sense of the present. Their areas of interest are Imperial Russia, the Soviet Union, and Central Asia. Beyond their academic pursuits, Pasha finds joy in spending time with their loved ones, wandering the earth and meeting its inhabitants, studying languages (they are currently learning Russian), and watching films, particularly Hindi-language ones.
