In partnership with the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, IPO hosted a delegation from the Embassy of Botswana to the US the week of April 18, 2022. Ambassador Onkokame Kitso Mokaila participated on a panel, along with Michelle Gavin (former U.S. ambassador to Botswana), about the Okavango Delta. In addition to the panel participation, Ambassador Mokaila, Second Secretary Olerile Charles Koboto, as well as a delegation from National Geographic, and on the UW-side, the Nelson Institute and IPO, had concentrated meetings about new ways of engaging and partnering in Botswana. In addition to various partnership-related meetings, Ambassador Mokaila and Mr. Koboto generously made time to have an informal conversation with OSF CSLA and King-Morgridge fellows about his career and navigating the intersection of politics, environmental conservation and civil society.
