THE WISCONSIN IDEA
International projects and partnerships at UW–Madison advance the Wisconsin Idea—the principle that universities exist to support and contribute to the development of the societies in which they are situated—in a global context and in innovative ways. They highlight the wealth and variety of expertise on the UW–Madison campus and enable faculty, staff, and students to cultivate relationships with peers around the world. Partnerships and projects provide valuable opportunities to share UW’s academic culture and engage with the culture of our partner institutions (e.g., universities, foundations, government ministries, and/or research centers, to name a few).
